The Anishinaabe Seven Fires prophecy speaks of a time when humanity will stand at a crossroads: one path leads to destruction, the other to rebirth. Many elders believe we are now in the time of the Seventh Fire—a moment of choice, remembering, and renewal.
At The New People, we honor this prophecy not as a metaphor, but as a real cultural and spiritual roadmap. It reminds us that wisdom is not lost—it’s waiting. And that the “new people” are not a futuristic ideal, but those who return to old ways with new eyes.
Our work doesn’t appropriate these teachings, but responds to them with deep listening, relationship, and respect. The path ahead must be walked in partnership—with Indigenous voices leading, and with settlers and allies learning to show up with humility.
To become “new,” we must become deeply human again. That means learning to live in right relation—with land, lineage, and each other.
